Reed & Benoit was established in September of 1945 when F. Herbert Benoit returned from Navy service to join Mrs. Gertrude E. Reed in operation of the then O.B. Reed Northside Funeral Home, Mill St., which was established in 1927 by Mrs. Reed's late husband, Ora B. The funeral home was relocated to its present location at 632 State St, in 1946.
